SAE describes viscosity class. BN describes alkalinity, in mg KOH/g. Matching SAE and BN alone does not establish interchangeability, cleanliness performance or mixing compatibility.
Before changing a product
Check the current OEM approval / NOL for the exact engine, fuel sulphur, viscosity and operating conditions. Obtain written supplier advice on changeover and mixing. Confirm port availability separately.
Official sources & scope
Each displayed product links to its manufacturer page, TDS or catalogue. These five established global brands are a selected comparison set, not a market-share ranking. Product families are labelled as ranges. “Check PDS” means no numerical value has been transcribed here.
CMP entries use the Chugoku Samhwa regional manufacturer manual (2023); regional grades and the current local TDS must be confirmed. Reviewed 26 October 2026; this is not a live catalogue or a price / stock feed.
